The survey, commissioned by the Orlando Health health network, found that 90% of respondents discounted the most crucial factor involved with weight loss: the psychological relationship between diet and exercise. Most (60%) of participants said diet and exercise to be the biggest obstacles, but if that were true I promise, weight loss would be much easier.
've worked with many clients who can afford personal training, even a personal chef or meal delivery services as designed for weight loss, and yet, despite these resources end up sabotaging themselves through emotional eating. If you are in the same boat, focus on your feelings Date , not your diet plan and exercise. Here are the top four emotions that tend to thwart the good intentions, along with strategies to alter how they affect their habits.
Happiness
While some of my clients are "on track" when they are happy, others have a feeding pattern celebration. It makes sense, because it is culturally encouraged to connect food to the union, praising and celebrating. This holiday season, if you are attracted too many treats, either because you are satisfied with your premium vacation, enjoying their free time, or time with family and friends to enjoy, try nonfood ways to be jubilant . Instead of cooking or eating plan a craft project or an excursion, such as ice skating, or nature walk. And most important to find ways to express their feelings instead of eating them. For some of my clients sing alone does the trick, while others enjoy group activities such as the organization of the games, the good old fashioned charades nerve against humanity Cards. When you're busy with joy you will be surprised how little is going to think about food.Sadness
Many of my clients remember having appeased with food as children. If it was after the loss of a pet fish, a scraped knee or a comment of a fellow middle class, many of us were comforted with food, such as ice cream, chocolate or macaroni and cheese. If you find yourself reliving the feeding pattern yourself after a hard day, experimenting with alternatives. Instead of giving an emotional embrace by eating let out their feelings by reaching out to a friend. Or try other peacemakers behaviors, such as taking a hot bath, spending time with a pet lover, or watching a sad movie (sans appetizers) and having a good cry. Sometimes letting out your feelings is the best way to prevent yourself from filling down or using food to disconnect it.Anger
Surprising, but true: One of the regular progress my clients have is that they often reach for crunchy foods or chewable as a way to deal with aggression. Whether frustration with a boss, coworker, significant other, or a daily trip to the stressful job, coping through chewing is a fairly common pattern. In my experience, people tend to "eat anger" can break the pattern search of other physical forms to let it out. In general the alternatives involve something that keeps the brain and hands busy, such as cleaning, cleaning and organizing closets or drawers, drawing, painting, or even playing games.
