Breatharianism: Science Examines People Who Claim Not to Eat & Here’s What They Found

Yoga Sutras , for example, approximately twenty-five siddhis are listed as having extraordinary abilities.

This is a common theme in Buddhism, and several other spiritual traditions. Clairvoyance, psychokinesis, and many more are all attributed to the siddhis features, such as freedom from hunger and thirst.

Although science today has been evidence of widespread human capabilities such as telepathy, remote viewing, and pre-cognition, very little work has been to examine Breatharianism. Some brilliant minds believe it is possible, however, including Nikola Tesla .

In 1901, he made the following argument:
"My idea is that the development of life should lead to forms of existence that will be possible without food and not be shackled by the consequent limitations.

"Why a living being not be able to get all the energy you need for the performing their vital functions of the environment, rather than through food consumption, and transform, through a complicated process, the energy of chemical combinations in maintaining life energy? "( source )
Liberation of food and hunger in effect, sounds unrealistic and, from what we know of modern biology, impossible day.

But the history of science has shown us many times that the impossible can become possible in an instant. a great example of this is the recent discovery that humans can influence reality their autonomic immune system by power of mind.

Let's take a look at what happened when people who claimed they eat were not examined by science.

Breatharianism

the Qigong practice Bigu, and qigong practices examined by science have taken some extraordinary results.

a study published in the American Journal of Chinese Medicine, as seen in the National Library of Medicine of the United States, he showed that a woman with special abilities was and is able to accelerate the germination of specific seeds for the purpose of developing a seed more robust stock.

This is one example of many; the study found and read more about it here .

The Catholic Charisma of India also involves the claim to live well without eating food. Dean Radin, senior scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, explains the concept in his book Supernormal: Science, Yoga, and evidence of extraordinary psychic abilities
"the implication is that the human body can transmute environmental energy in nutrients, and through the practice of cultivating this capacity can live comfortably for as long as desired without food, and possibly without drinking water. this is described as a siddhi in yoga Sutras as :. 111.30 Pada freedom from hunger and thirst

"This goes against a considerable body of medical knowledge, which has established that the human body can last about five days without water, a couple of weeks at most without food. Beyond that, you're dead.

"As a result, despite a number of historical examples of people that last for years without eating, and sometimes without drinking, most nutritionists and biochemists consider such claims to be ridiculously impossible, and people who make claims moment, dozens to hundreds worldwide -.. being seriously delusional Some of the claimants may well be delusional But all of them "
Prahlad Jani

Prahlad Jani is a local Ahmedabad, India, who claims that at the age of 11, the Hindu goddess Amba appeared to him and told him he would not have to eat food.

Apparently, he has lived in a cave since the 1970s, and says something that has not eaten for most of his 81 years (from 2012).

Jani was tested in 2003 and 2010 at the Hospital of law Ahmedabad Dr. Sudhir Shah by and large team of doctors. Dr. Shah is a neurologist who has been practicing for 20 years as well as a head teacher and department of neurology at the Faculty of KM PG medicine and research.

During the first trial, held in 2003, Jani was supervised by hospital staff 24/7 and video cameras, where it was confirmed that Jani without eating or drinking.

also showed no physiological changes that, according to modern medicine, it should be impossible.

This test was conducted over a period of 10 days. Although it may not seem like a significant amount of time to go 10 days without food or water and not experience any physiological change is really quite amazing.

He was tested again in the Hospital Act in 2010 from April 22 to May 6. This time, it was observed by thirty-five researchers from the Institute of Indian Defense Physiology and Allied Sciences, among others.

This time, Jani found not to eat or drink for two weeks. As in the previous test, which showed no deleterious effects of this abstention.

This really is amazing, and goes against everything we know about human physiology and nutritional needs of the body.

As expected, neither these tests and their results were published in medical journals. Studies have also generated a lot of criticism. The main arguments against these tests were, however, quite weak in my opinion.

One argument holds that Jani escaped the scrutiny of the hospital staff and video cameras with the help of his disciples, and he did, in fact, eat / drink.

However, the hospital staff maintains this is impossible because it was monitored throughout the day, according to the study requirements.

Even with these criticisms, the evidence is solid and seems to correspond with a known Siddhi.

A statement of a scientific group (which included the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences) given to ABC News back in 2012 is as follows:
"We realized that, if all this phenomenon really exists in a human being, even for 15 days, would have immense application in unraveling the secrets of medical science and its application to human welfare.

"instead of ignoring this case, They were selected to investigate further, in a rational and scientific manner. New We make it clear that the purpose of this study was not to prove or disprove a person, but to explore a possibility in science and the study of a new phenomenon. "( source )
is a case interesting, right?

Michael Werner

Another case comes from a doctor in chemistry called Michael Werner , who is the CEO of a pharmaceutical research institute in Switzerland. This man claims not to have eaten any solid food since 1 January 2001.

He studied in a trial observational ten days in October 2004 by the intensive care unit of a hospital in Switzerland, and as with Jani, showed no significant or dangerous physiological changes. These results have not yet been published, however.

Dean Radin provides a detailed explanation of why these results can not be never published, and why has not paid much attention to this phenomenon:
"Perhaps the most curious aspect of the Breatharian evidence is the nature in-your-face phenomenon claimed and yet an almost complete lack of interest from the scientific community.

"If it is possible to live well without eating food, this should be easy to prove, and if lifted, scientific and social consequences would be staggering."
The fact is that, as with many other phenomena observed that science can not explain, most researchers believe that this kind of thing so ludicrous and extremely unlikely, and therefore not even take the time to look at them.

claims are dismissed out of hand rather than approaching them with scientific neutrality and curiosity.

Another reason for this silence could be simple fear; Researchers rely on funding from various parties, and they know that they were denied if the subject seems too "out there".

also know what kind of criticism that would face the mainstream scientific community should go ahead and publish a study on something as esoteric.

breathariansim Werner became aware of a spiritual master names Australian Jasmuheen, who teaches how to transition from eating to not eat.

And Jasmuheen has also been the subject of a study, but she began to show signs of stress, high blood pressure and dehydration after only 48 hours.

Like most of you reading this knowledge, this is not something you can just go and try. It can be very dangerous, and there have been several reports of deaths that occur as a result of people involved in this practice.

Clearly, it is not much more complicated than simply refrain from eating or drinking.

The science of fasting

Science is showing how beneficial it can be food deprivation. Mark Mattson, the current head of the Laboratory of Neuroscience at the National Institute on Aging and professor of neurology at Johns Hopkins University, gave a TED talk about fasting in 2014.

This practice has been shown to generate new stem cells, DNA repair, fight cancer, fight both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, among others.

is also interesting to note that all models of caloric restriction in animal studies have shown the health benefits and significant improvements, including a longer life.

To learn more about the science of fasting, you can read a more detailed article and watch a TED talk by Dr. Mattson here .
