Your Brain Is Not Your Mind: True Nature of Consciousness

Waking Times

There is a fundamental question that has been asked for ages - are your brain and your mind the same thing? If not, what is the difference

First, let's take a look at the standard definition of mind:

"The element of a person allows them to be aware of the world and their experiences, thoughts and feelings, the faculty of conscience and thought. "- Merriam-Webster

Now let's see how to define the brain:

"An organ of soft nervous tissue contained in the skull of vertebrates, which serves as the focal point of sensitivity and intellectual and nervous activity." - Merriam-Webster

The first thing you'll notice is that the definitions are very different. The second thing is that the mind is more focused on the thoughts and feelings, while the brain is more focused on physical characteristics.

There is no doubt that what you're thinking originates in the brain, but are the mind and the brain the same? Is there more to our conscience then only the activation of neurons through the soft tissue?

Most people use the mind and brain interchangeably. The truth is that in order to be the same thing, the mind has to be made up entirely from the brain. In fact, your mind does not care what you think your brain . Psychologists believe that the mind can really control your brain.

Your mind can Smile

A great example of how the mind and brain are actually two different components is by examining their ability to smile.
"for example, your brain will interpret the muscles used to smile as a sign of happiness, even if you're sad. it so, you can trick the brain into thinking you are satisfied by placing a pencil in his mouth and bite into it, because it uses the same muscles. Similarly, cortisol levels to get used gradually misinterpreted as . continued presence of the threat, even though the threat does not exist This is problematic for the brain, which has not evolved much, it is not a problem for the mind, which is constantly changing. "- Billi Gordon Ph.D.
This is what really separates the two. His mind is something that is constantly evolving based on feelings and experiences. The brain is only there to interpret these things and provide feedback. This means that the mind is really about your desires and the subconscious. You can form opinions and replaced without involving the brain. This is why there mental health benefits from just change their habits.

Good and Evil

Your mind and brain can not the same thing they do not share the same attributes. The brain is very physical in nature. It can process physical pain, which helps you to react to danger. It can process the light to make sure your eyes are operated at optimum efficiency.

However, the brain can not decide whether or not to walk to work or ride a bike. You can not decide whether to call his mother this weekend or not. In fact, the brain can not make any decisions. The brain is like a computer that simply takes input and provides an output.

Decisions are emotional, not logical . Your brain can store information, but depends on the mind how to use it.

Your brain can not tell the difference between good and evil. It corresponds to your mind to solve that. The brain simply takes the physical inputs and translates them. Like the previous example smile, the mind is able to manipulate the brain. If you can change your mind about whether or not something is right or wrong, your brain reacts accordingly, even if the result is identical.

For example, if you have made up your mind to push someone for no reason , your mind knows that this is wrong, and you will feel bad. These feelings are communicated to the brain, which makes physically sadness, grief, etc.
feel
If you push someone to help them avoid being hit by a train, your mind knows that this is correct, and you will feel good. These feelings are communicated to the brain, which makes physically joy, happiness, etc.
feel
Although the same action and physically accurate result occurred, your brain processes them in two different ways and sends two different signals to your body. What this affected different responses was in the mind, through the decision you made
