raw peanut butter crackers Smoothie buckwheat
Serves 1-2
Ingredients:
- 1 / 3 cup whole oats naturally, soaked overnight with enough water to cover by a few inches
- 3/4 cup almond milk, milk or other vegetable choice
- 1- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 medjool date
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- pinch of sea salt
- 1 frozen banana
- to the top and turmoil in: oats soaked and dehydrated (see note below)
Instructions:
Drain oats soaked and rinsed well in a fine mesh strainer. Add the buckwheat and all the ingredients, in addition to the frozen banana (and coverage dehydrated buckwheat) for your blender. Mix low to high until completely smooth. Add the frozen bananas and blend again until smooth and creamy. Stir in one or two tablespoons crunchy oat dehydrated and top with a few as well, along with the other ingredients of choice.
Notes:
To make oatmeal soaked and dehydrated (the crunchy part of the shortbread Liquefied peanut) buckwheat bathes for at least 6 hours or all night. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Morning rinse and drain water very well, even patting me lightly with a dishcloth. Spread on a tray dehydrator and dehydrated at low temperature for about 4-6 hours.
I use an old, about 1990 dehydrator, which had been collecting dust in my parents' attic storage. It works great for dehydrating nuts, seeds and grains like this. If you are not ready to buy a Excalibur , I highly recommend scrubbing out thrift stores, garage sales, or even just buying a cheap in store for this sort of thing. Someday, I hope to have a serious dehydrator, but for now my only retro works fine for my purposes.
probably can dehydrate to buckwheat in the oven, although I've never tried. I would not do if the oven is not less than 200 degrees F, and you could end up with roasted buckwheat (known as kasha) that completely change the taste of this smoothie and any other recipe that calls for raw buckwheat. Here is a great post Yum Universe all about soaking and dehydrating (also called "Activation") -> The soaking and dehydrating nuts and seeds
nuts soak and seeds and grains, reduced enzyme inhibitors and makes it much easier for our bodies to digest and assimilate nutrients. Soaking and dehydrating is ideal for when you want to use grains, nuts and "dry" seeds as a raw cookie as a complement, or to make flour or meal nuts.
