Harvard Scientists Say That There May Be An Ancient Earth Inside Earth

A team of Harvard scientists may have found an indication that there is a part of an ancient land within the mantle of our planet.
a study presented in the conference Goldschmidt in Sacramento, California, says the previously unexplained isotope ratio of the depths of the Earth can be an "echo" of ancient Earth that existed before the collision with another celestial body, which is estimated to have led to the formation of the Moon 4.5 billion years ago.
According to the authors of the study, relationship may represent a signal of a material that existed before the time of the collision.

scientists at Harvard University, addressed by Associate Professor Sujoy Mukhopadhyay believe that only a part of the earth melted as a result of the collision, and deep in the mantle of our planet there is still a part of the ancient earth.
scientists have studied the isotopic ratio of the noble gases from deep within the Earth's mantle and compared with the isotopic ratio of the gases that are closer to the surface. They found that the proportion of 3He to 22Ne of the surface layers of the layer is much higher than its deeper layers.
Analysis of the 129-xenon and the relationship 130-xenon also confirms the hypothesis suggested by researchers. The material has returned to the surface of the deep mantle has a lower proportion than is usually found near the surface.
From the 129-xenon is produced by the radioactive decay of iodine-129, these isotopes indicate that the old part of the layer formed during the first 100 million years of evolution on Earth.
scientists believe that this theory explains the differences between the proportions of isotopes of noble gases in different parts . Earth
As professor Mukhopadhyay said. "the geochemistry indicates that there are differences between the proportions of isotopes of noble gases in different parts of the Earth, and these need to be explained the idea a very damaging collision of Earth with another planet-sized body, the largest in the geological history of the Earth event, did not melt completely and homogenize the Earth challenges some of our ideas about the formation of planets and energetics giant impacts. If the theory is proven correct, then we may be seeing echoes of ancient Earth, some time before the collision "
