The World is Our Garden — Defend It or Lose It
By Julian Rose - zengardnerWhen we enter a garden carefully nurtured and diverse, we are struck by its beauty and sense of integrity. We are enraptured with its smells and its mysteries. We are encouraged by their colors, both vivid and subtle, and we are fed by the freshness that fills our lungs.
Overall, most sentient beings surely agree, this garden is a nice place to be - and if someone emerge that threatens to desecrate this sacred space - the reaction will be to jump to his defense and to protect against such criminal action
so let's consider the fact that more than a wise person. more of a spiritual leader felt compelled to point out that "the world is our garden" and therefore should be carefully nurtured and defended in the same way as the private space in which we grow our flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs. Emotionally, we make no distinction between the micro and macro spheres.

it is true that there are many mortals who tend their individual gardens, and many more without physical garden to attend. But among them all, only a small minority can be found who are willing to go out of their way on foot for a larger garden called planet Earth.
Even among those who classify themselves as' conscious' and on the path of spiritual enlightenment, is very few willing to actively defend the greater whole in the same spirit as they easily defend themselves and tend their "own" private space. I know the space where grown one of spiritual growth -. Or the physical space is the garden itself
The act of "ownership" seems to have nullified and canceled our ability to feel and apply a sense of innate responsibility for what we do "own"
the capitalist / consumerist neoliberal conditioning which forms an important part of almost all our teachings -. has not taught us to feel responsible for life - but only the part in which we have invested our interest . staff and financial resources
we must remember that we are the collective managers that only living entity that supports and provides us with all our needs for the duration of our life -. and beyond
interrogate our supposed "spirituality" in light of our unwillingness to put ourselves on the line to fight for the survival of allowing us to eat, drink, breathe and enjoy their abundant generosity.
you see, if we had been dragged from an early age to respond spontaneously to life that gives the heartbeat of our planetary existence, could not distinguish between empathy for the garden of Gaia and empathy for our own private garden. Empathy for all children and empathy for our own children .. and so on.
We would like to acknowledge that the manifestation of our instinct for protection to operate only about what we consider 'belongs to us' is a serious distortion of our natural instincts.
Why do I say that?
Consider for a moment that you are sitting in your garden and someone comes through the door with a chain saw and proceeds to establish on cutting your favorite fruit tree ... what would you do?
Well, it almost certainly stems from his chair and run to stop them. Now let's switch to a similar incident where a beautiful tree in a park on the other side of the garden fence indiscriminately accosted by a man wielding a chainsaw that clearly does not have to be there. It is clear that this person intends to cut this tree ... what would be your reaction to this? Would you try to stop this person? Trying to find help? ? Feel a sense of outrage
There is a possibility that could answer all these ways; but there is a much greater likelihood that, after experiencing some initial discomfort at the brazenness of this destructive intent, it would take no action, take comfort in the idea of "There is nothing I can do about it anyway." With that thought in your higher mind that you try to ignore the incident and continue with what I was doing
If our educational system had even a hint of spiritual aspiration written in their curriculum -. We would be encouraged to recognize our responsibility to all life on this planet from an early age - and be encouraged to come to your rescue in times when it is clearly under threat
But that is not what most schooling is. . On the contrary, their energies on teaching us how to acquire the means to "own" a small niche of this planet is concentrated, and accumulate the thousands of parts that are deemed necessary to furnish it. God forbid that we can decide to reject the trappings of this sacred road to hell
Each television commercial, commercial hoarding, glitzy magazine, showcase, internet and cinemas - implores us to enjoy a consumptive way of life that both excludes obtaining a greater awareness of our situation, and contributes to the inevitable violation of planetary resources on which we all depend.
the growing awareness that comes with our spiritual practice also has the effect of alerting us to the destructive nature of this consumerist lifestyle and most jobs are the week of repetitive work and largely barren.
we see more clearly how, if we are we caught up in this mechanism are just a cog in a big machine whose overall ambition is precisely the opposite of what inspires our spiritual efforts
soon becomes clear that we have to make a choice. find a way work that satisfies our upstream of discernment and is supportive of the trusteeship of the earth, or give-to the demands and promises of the corporate state that so relentlessly undermines everything that is subtle, beautiful and satisfying spiritually on this day a day of adventure called life.
the new society that many of us long for can only be achieved if we take the necessary actions to carry it out. One can not embark on a path to higher consciousness regardless of the damage done by the way you lead your daily life. For the realization of our deepest and sleep spiritual powers be, we need to bring all aspects of our lives in line with our growing awareness.
This means embark on an orderly transition away from reliance on commercial buildings crude and destructive status quo - such as food mile long, hungry for profits supermarket chains; highly corrupt banking institutions on a large scale; agrichemically and foods genetically 'convenience' modified; unnecessarily large cars guzzling gas; numb the mind and the mind control of television programs; after the "fashion"; binge drinking and frequent parties; electro produce indulgent cell phone conversations ... and so on smog
Not only are these various activities negative impact on us and our environment -. but we are pursuing them economically and energetically support those facets of society whose only goal is profit, power and increase control over our daily lives. In other words, we are supporting that which is an integral part of the continuing destruction of this "world is our garden '.
This is clearly a totally unspiritual to step way.
We are supporting either a radical transformation of society according to our own growing awareness of its many destructive components, or are falling into a hypocritical and delusional state in which any increase in consciousness is little rumpled and turned on itself.
have no choice other than to walk forward on two feet. to 'walk the walk "and practice what we preach.
it is my belief that we will succeed in this great search once we've tied securely within us the manifestation of their true outward expression awakening.
Thus the path to enlightenment becomes synonymous with taking actions to improve and heal social scars, cultural, economic and environmental covering our wounded planet. A process that unifies the disparate efforts and reveals uncoupled, looking inward and liabilities spiritual practices - that prevent active participation in service on the planet. - Ultimately to be fraudulent and avoidance mechanism
If ' the world is our garden 'then we will be united now to rescue their enemies - no matter what the odds. Let's challenge the political games that have governments lead to ally themselves with the corporate cause and ignore the cries of humanity imprisoned and tortured limbs of mother nature.
higher Our spiritual calling is to go on defense of life. * Angels rush to our side once we have demonstrated our commitment to take control of our destiny, including the emancipation of this planet long oppressed that is our unique and irreplaceable home.
