Very First Human Trials Using Cannabis To Treat Brain Cancer Under Way
The image on the left shows the immunofluorescence of human glioma cell line. (See more photos here )A European pharmaceutical company called GW Pharmaceuticals is set to start its first phase of clinical trials for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). It is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of novel therapeutic products from its product platform cannabinoid owner.
According to the New England Journal of Medicine, GBM accounts for approximately 50% of 22,500 new cases of brain cancer diagnosed in the United States alone each year. (1) Treatment with respect to brain cancer are very limited which makes the study of cannabis and its effect on the crucial brain tumors.

We are excited about moving this compound in a human study and prospects of cannabinoids as new cancer treatments. This is the first clinical study of cannabinoids GW as a potential treatment to inhibit tumor growth. We believe that this clinical program demonstrates the flexibility and broad application of GW cannabinoids platform to address important unmet therapeutic needs. - Dr. Steven Wright, Director of Research and Development at GWThe study included 20 patients, who will be a two-part study with open-label phase to evaluate the safety and tolerability of GW cannabinoids in combination with temozolomide and a phase of double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled randomized to active or placebo.
the objective of the study is to evaluate the tolerability, safety and pharmacodynamics of a mixture of two main cannabinoids, THC and CBD in a ratio of 1 :. Allocation ration 1 in combination with temozolomide in patients with recurrent GBMUnfortunately, the study will not be fully cannabis, as mentioned above. It will do so in combination with temozolomide, a drug for oral chemotherapy. Who knows what effect this may have regarding the use of cannabis as a treatment, but we'll find out. Previous studies indicate that (cannabis) does more than help.
Previously published an article summarizing four medical studies that prove cannabis may be an effective treatment and even cure for brain cancer. Here (below) are again only if no. It's possible benefits are not limited to brain cancer, but all cancers suggesting a massive amount of human clinical trials should begin. Take a look at the top 20 medical studies that prove cannabis can cure cancer .
In my opinion, many human trials have already been conducted outside the field of medicine. A large number of people who have used cannabis to treat their cancer, and have succeeded in doing so. It is very difficult to trust pharmaceutical companies these days. Home grown GM and pesticides free cannabis would be ideal, and do not forget that the best method of ingestion is eat it instead of smoking it .
Hopefully this article sparks to advance their research the healing properties of this plant if interested. It is a gift of nature and should not be taken lightly when it comes to its medicinal properties. It seems that nature has a cure for everything but our medicine has become an industry. I'm a big believer that everything has a cure.
1. A study published in the British Journal of Cancer , conducted by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid, this study found that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other cannabinoids inhibit tumor growth. They were responsible for the first clinical study to evaluate the antitumor action of cannabinoids. Cannabinoid delivery was safe and was achieved with zero psychoactive effects. THC was found to decrease tumor cells in two of the nine patients.
2. A study published in The Journal of Neuroscience examined the neuronal damage in both acute and progressive neurodegenerative diseases, gradually biochemical events. an imaging study was performed by MRI was seen in THC (the main active compound in marijuana) and found that reduces neuronal damage in rats. The results of this study provide evidence that the cannabinoid system can serve to protect the brain against neurodegeneration.
3. A study published in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and the fact that cannabinoids have been shown to possess anti-tumor properties recognized. This study examined the effect of cannabidiol (CBD, not psychoactive cannabinoid compound) in human glioma cell lines. The addition of cannabidiol led to a dramatic drop in viability of the glioma cells. The glioma is the word used to describe a brain tumor. The study concluded that cannabidiol was able to produce significant antitumor activity.
4. A study published in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics describes how brain tumors are highly resistant to treatments existing cancer, which makes it essential to find new therapeutic strategies aimed at improving the poor prognosis of patients suffering from this disease. This study also demonstrated the reversal of tumor activity in glioblastoma multiforme
