Research carried out by researchers University Sweden found that retirement is beneficial to your health


researchers looked at a large sample of 25,000 people over Australia .; measure levels of physical activity, diet, physical inactivity, alcohol consumption and sleep patterns.



The results revealed that once retired, older people increased their physical activity by 93 minutes per week, decreased sedentary time by 67 minutes day, they enjoyed 11 minutes of sleep per day, and 50 percent of women smokers quit smoking.

The team also found that changes in positive lifestyle were even stronger in those who had stopped working full time, probably because both the extension became available again for retirees, giving them the opportunity to seek healthier and take part in activities stimulating health such as sleep and exercise

according to lead researcher Dr. Melody Ding, "a major life change such as retirement creates a large window of opportunity to make changes positive lifestyle -. it is an opportunity to get rid of bad routines and prepare new healthier behaviors, "


Dr. Ding expects the people start seeing their retirement more positively.
"retirement is a good time to talk with doctors to their patients about making positive lifestyle changes that could add years to your life," said Dr. Ding, adding, "the results suggest that both health professionals and politicians should consider developing special programs for retirees to take advantage of health transitions through retirement. "
