MEASLES

Measles, also known as rebeola, is a viral infection of the respiratory system. It is a contagious disease. It can easily transfer from infected person to another one through saliva, mucus.
Its virus can be released to air if any infected person cough or sneezes openly in air. The virus can live on surface for hours. As the particles enter the air and settle on surface, anyone within close proximity can become infected with the measles virus.
This infection can even transfer to you if you share common drinking glass with an infected person.
Measles is a leading cause of death in children. Many adults and children have been killed by this disease.
Symptoms:-
Symptoms of measles generally appear within 14 days of exposure to the virus.
Symptoms include:-
- · Cough
- · Fever
- · Red eyes
- · Light sensitivity
- · Muscle aches
- · Runny nose
- · Sore throat
- · White spots inside the mouth
- An infected person will have red rashes on his body. This rash will remain there for 7 days and generally appears within the first three to five days of exposure to the virus.
- Red rashes will also include, itchy bumps.
Complications:-
Measles if treated immediately then its good otherwise it will create adversities for you. It will create life threatening complications, such as pneumonia and encephalitis.
Many other complications are there, such as:-
- · Ear infection
- · Bronchitis
- · Miscarriage or preterm labor
- · Decrease in blood platelets
- · Blindness
- · Severe diarrhea
Prevention:-
- · Immunizations can help prevent a measles outbreak. The MMR vaccine is a three-in-one vaccination that can protect you and your children from the measles, mumps, and rubella.
- · In our family if someone is infected with this virus then limit your interaction with them.
- · Infected person must avoid going at public places such as, staying at home from school or work.
