Choosing a name for your baby is a difficult task.  We want something that is unique and familiar at the same time.  Well, this mom from Australia did just that!  In fact, she took a very popular name “Kate” and changed the spelling into something much more unique.  Check it out for yourself:










SOUNDS THE SAME BUT LOOKS SO MUCH DIFFERENT ON PAPER!









According to the mom, spelling out her name is the roman numeral symbol for eight has made it “truly unique”.






Well, if the artist formally known as ‘Prince’ can change his name to a symbol, I suppose we can manage to live with the spelling that she provided for her child. Her daughter’s name spelling was also made part of a lifestyle magazine spread.  Once this spelling was revealed, it shocked the world!



Her child’s name is spelled, “KVIIIyn”.  One Reddit user found this spelling in the mom’s letter to the magazine and snapped a photo of it to share it online. The caption said, “Surely a form of abuse.”



Yes, it’s going to take some time to get used the way people may want to change, even something as simple as the spelling of a name.  However, people who don’t like it are horrified!  One reader commented, “Assuming this whole thing isn’t a joke, there’s already a few different way to spell Kaitlyn. There’s Caitlin, Katelyn, Caitlyn and I’m pretty sure there’s more. If the idea was to have different spelling, surely they could use on of those?”










Still, another shocker reader said: “I have a long name and when I was in nursery I could never remember how to spell it so I sounded it out.  I would be so humiliated.”



Well, it’s safe to change that change is hard.  However, after only being given so many letters of the alphabet to choose from, why shouldn’t we start using the numbers as well?  The fact that this mom took to using Roman Numerals is what impresses me the most.  That shows that she has a lot of classic style! Also, watching people get so upset over the mere spelling of a name, no matter how odd,  is proof that we need more brave souls in the world who are willing to do exactly what they feel is right for them.  Kudos!
