Aging Faster Than Your Friends
all have friends who were born in the same year, but younger (or more) years are we. Now researchers say that these perceptions are not only outward appearances, but something deeper: the different pace at which each of us ages, and what it means for our health.

In a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, scientists led by Daniel Belsky, an assistant professor of medicine at the School of division of geriatric medicine at Duke University, describe a panel 18 test measures 20 and 30 years old who showed how quickly they are aging. The markers proved to be a good indicator of physiological age, which means that those aged faster also looked older, according to the impartial assessments of random people looking at your photos.

But it is clear that aging does not happen overnight; rather, it occurs gradually over a period of decades, like water affects the form of banks or stones over time. It is not obvious on the basis of everyday life, but it can be dramatic if several years have passed.

in the study, 954 people born in 1972 or 1973 in Dunedin, New Zealand, agreed to participate in a study that followed from age 26 to age 38. Each participant agreed to be tested a range of 18 different factors that previous studies related to aging, including blood pressure, lung function, cholesterol, body mass index, inflammation and DNA integrity. Based on their scores on these measures, the researchers calculated a biological age of each volunteer. They did it again when people in the study were 32 and 38 years old, and combined to calculate the rate at which each person is aging.

Some people were biologically older and aging faster than others, despite being the same chronological age.

Although some people were really biologically older than themselves, the good news is that some were younger than their chronological age and aging slower than they should. Comparing the slower and faster aging groups should reveal some tips on how to keep aging in check.

Some of these keys to young people probably will not be surprising; taking into account 18 factors that scientists studied, they are likely to involve habits such as a healthy diet that is low in fat and salt, maintaining a healthy weight, reduce stress, they have a strong immune system and exercise regularly. No smoking or quitting smoking may also play a role.
