MAUI, Hawaii — Maui County prosecutors in Hawaii have charged former West Palm Beach area yoga studio owner Alison Dadow with second-degree murder this afternoon in connection with the death of her twin sister, Ann Dadow.
Authorities now believe Alison, 37, deliberately crashed the SUV the sisters were riding through a retaining wall and down a 200-foot cliff May 29.
Witnesses told police the sisters were arguing and fighting inside the car seconds before the crash and reported they saw one woman pulling the other one’s hair as the Ford Explorer approached the sharp turn in the super dangerous Hana Highway.
The SUV landed on lava rocks at the bottom of the cliff. The crash instantly killed Ann, the only passenger, but Alison survived. Rescuers had to fight ocean waves and slippery conditions to pull Alison from the wreckage.
Until Friday, she was listed in critical condition in a local hospital.
Then, cops told reporters, they received information Alison was trying to leave the state when she was arrested.
Alison, who like her sister took the last name Duval over the past few months and changed her first name to Alexandria, recovered well enough to be moved to a local jail and arraigned in a courtroom an hour ago.
The charging documents don’t mention the motive for the alleged murder, but reads: “Alexandria Duval, also known as Alison Dadow, did intentionally or knowingly cause the death of another person, to wit, Anastasia Duval, also known as Ann Dadow, … thereby committing the offense of murder in the second degree.”

Alison was ordered held without bond after pleading not guilty to the charge.
The identical twin yoga entrepreneurs built a thriving, two-studio Twin Power Yoga in downtown West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens starting in the late 2000s before leaving the area without paying their employees and reimbursing customers in 2014.
They moved to Hawaii a few months ago after attempting to open similar yoga studios in Utah and filing for bankruptcy. In Hawaii, Alison turned up in a homeless shelter with all of her baggage and tried to get money from the shelter.
