THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD PLAN YOUR DAY ACCORDING TO THE CHINESE BODY CLOCK

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the human body has its own energy clock, also known as the Chinese Body Clock, which explains the energy flow throughout the body at different intervals. In fact, the Chinese Body Clock discovers why you experience shifts in mood and energy levels during the day, and why you sometimes feel more absent-minded.

Interestingly, each organ of the human body reaches its energy peak at certain time of the day, so knowing how your energy clock works, you can provide your body with optimal function. As proposed by the Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body shifts its energy concentration from one organ to another every 2 hours. The organ opposite each time slot (12 hours ahead) is the one with the least energy at that time.

The chart below shows the human energy body clock, i.e. the best times to eat, work, sleep and socialize.

Time of optimal function

  • 1-3 am – liver (the body is detoxifying itself by processing and eliminating toxins, thus cleansing the blood)

  • 3-5 am – lungs (the lungs are filled with oxygen to capacity)

  • 5-7 am – large intestine (the body is preparing the large intestine to eliminate the waste when you wake up)

  • 7-9 am – stomach ( your stomach is ready to digest the first meal you have after a night of fasting)

  • 9-11 am – pancreas (the pancreas and the spleen process breakfast and turn it into energy)

  • 11 am-1 pm – heart (the heart pumps out the nutrients from breakfast to other parts of the body)

  • 1-3 pm – small intestine (the body is digesting lunch and most of the energy is focused on the small intestine)

  • 3-5 pm – bladder (it’s important to stay hydrated during this time because your bladder performs its optimal function)

  • 5-7 pm – kidneys (the kidneys filter the body of any waste)

  • 7-9 pm – pericardium (as the day draws to an end, the blood pressure is typically the highest; also, the libido has reached its peak so it’s the best time for intercourse)

  • 9-11 pm – endocrine system (the body replaces the enzymes used throughout the day; it’s the best time to fall asleep)

  • 11 pm-1 am – gall blabber (the energy focus is on the gall bladder)

Time of minimal function or rest

  • 1-3 am – small intestine

  • 3-5 am – bladder

  • 5-7 am – kidneys

  • 7-9 am – pericardium

  • 9-11 am – endocrine system

  • 11 am-1 pm – gall bladder

  • 1-3 pm – liver

  • 3-5 pm – lungs

  • 5-7 pm – large intestine

  • 7-9 pm – stomach

  • 9-11 pm – pancreas

  • 11 pm-1 am – heart

Although it still hasn’t been scientifically proven, the Chinese Body Clock has shown beneficial for many people as it helps them improve their body function during the day. Even health experts agree that the body biological clock is very important for the cell regeneration process as well as for preventing the onset of cancer and other serious diseases.
