If you only do 6 things to boost health, what should you do?



The main contributor of our health problems like stroke, heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc. is our unhealthy lifestyle. Eating right and exercising regularly are major component of a healthy lifestyle. Chief of Cardiology at Johns Hop kings School of Medicine advice some simple tips to lead a long healthy life



1. Daily exercise.



Get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day is very important and make it as our daily routine like other routine activities. For achieving this we can also turn off the TV or computer, and get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.



Aerobic exercise is very useful to work our heart for which we have so many options: walking, jogging, cycling, rowing machine, elliptical machine, swimming. But do not do over exercise like to be an athlete. Walking is best exercise. Even 10 minutes walking here and there during free time or talking on Mobile that all counts to maintain or to improve our body and health.



We can also start some simple activities like parking in the far corner of the parking lot so as to get those extra steps to the door. Take the stairs one or two flights instead of the elevator. While using public transportation, get off one stop early and walk the rest. Get out at lunch to walk. or walk with your friend after work. By these entire simple day to day activities one can add plus points to get relaxation and stress reduction.













2. Healthy diet.



To avoid eating junk food and high-fat fast food as far as possible in order to lead a healthy life. We have to replace them with healthy foods: lots of fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, olive oil – generally we called as Mediterranean diet, eat like an Italian, a Spaniard, a Greek and enjoy the life!







3. Weight loss.



Keeping extra body weight is a great risk to our health. Weight is increased by accumulation of fat in the body. The simple principle is when we eat more calories than we burn, we gain weight, and if we eat fewer calories than we burn, we lose weight. So one has to keep balance with the calories we eat and the calories we burn every day by adopting a new lifestyle to get rid of serious health problems like heart disease, diabetes or stroke.






4. Regular physical exams.



It is advisable to consult the doctor and tell him the family medical history. Take his advice occasionally regarding the personal risk factors, and the screening tests one need like mammograms to screen for breast cancer, Pap tests for cervical cancer, PSA test for prostate cancer. If colon cancer runs in the family it is very important to get routine screening for colorectal cancer at the age of 50, or earlier. Also need regular diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol tests and make sure the immunizations are up to date and take care as per advice of the doctor.







5. Less stress.



When someone says that they don’t have time for exercise, it reminds me that how other things are crowding out the real priorities in one’s life: They don’t get time to spend time with their loved ones, don’t have time to work out ; don't have a proper diet plan; don’t get enough sleep i.e. at least eight hours. All of these things are very important in your life for health and sustainability
For a healthy life, we have to set limits on work hours and find sufficient time to relax regularly. Always think positive, engage in writing, listening music, dancing can release tension. Discussing our feeling with a friend can also release tension and stress. Exercise and relaxation, running, walking, swimming, yoga and meditation are the activities that can reduce stress to a great extent. Keeping regular exercise as part of our day to day life is a good way to get rid of irritation and anger.






6. Cultivate loving relationships.



Research says tells that a person should develop good social support group as it has a number of psychological health benefits and is also important for your physical well being. Because it helps you from not feeling lonely, deprived or separated from others. And if a person develops positive energy then he can deal with stress and anxiety. Family and friends helps a lot in providing the right advice at the right time and help finding solutions to the problems in one’s life. If your social group is small and limited then try doing new activities such as volunteering for social services etc which can help you to meet new people and make friends.
