We've done all this despite rarely want to admit. bread drawer opens, two slices are taken for a sandwich and there is, lurking on the surface, a small circle of blue-green mold. The destroyer dinner!But who cares, it's just a small point, I take it out and eat the "good part "what's the worst that can happen? We will not allow a single point of mold ruin an entire piece of bread.
Well, if you've done this, you may want to reconsider in the future, because the USDA recommends people to throw a whole loaf of bread at the first sign of mold, no matter big or small.
even though we know that we are losing the food, unfortunately, 'it is not safe to eat with, even the smallest speck of mold. This is because recent studies have shown that the mold has long roots, threadlike invading all the food they grow on, not just the surface. These microscopic fungi can even cause allergies and respiratory problems for some people. There are different types of mold; some may even produce toxic and hazardous substances such as mycotoxins, which can have a detrimental effect on our overall health. The worst of these substances, aflatoxin, can even cause liver cancer.
The US Department of Food Safety Agriculture and Inspection Service of the United States recommends that if you do not want to throw a whole loaf of bread, cut a large piece around the mold and make having received the molds out. But still, this should not be a common practice because there are certain bacteria that can not be seen with the naked eye. The best recommendation is to put the bread in a bag and throw immediately to prevent toxins from being released into the air.
The only time you can simply remove the mold and eat the rest is when it appears hard salami can safely remove and eat the rest. The mold in some cheeses, such as Brie, placed there on purpose, so it is safe to eat
Warning :. Never vacuum mold once see it on your food, this can lead directly to respiratory problems. Once moldy food are discarded, clean the surface thoroughly to ensure that no bacteria that stop spread.
