Furthermore, although eight hours has been the bright standard for adults for a long time, the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) has formally changed some of its proposals , which could mean some changes for timer clock, as well.

An expert panel of 18 researchers, including six officials of rest, evaluated more than 300 studies ebb and flow and research. At that time, the group voted in the amount of rest should accept each stage of age. A few extensions were extended (infants, toddlers, preschoolers, youth), while another (infants) was limited, and two new classifications were presented: younger adults (ages 18 to 25) and more established adults (ages 65+).

• Newborns (0-3 months): Sleep range was reduced to 14 to 17 hours each day (previously 12-18)
• babies (4-11 months): Sleep range opened two hours at 12-15 hours (formerly 14-15)
• the young children (1-2 years): Sleep range widened in one hour at 11 to 14 hours (previously 12-14)
• preschoolers (3-5): Sleep range was extended in a hour 10-13 hours (formerly 11-13)
• the school-age children (6-13): Sleep range widened in one hour at 11.09 hours (formerly 10-11)




• teenagers (14-17): Sleep range widened in an hour 8-10 hours (before it was 8.5-9.5)
• younger adults (18-25): range of sleep is 7-9 hours (new age category)
• adults (26-64): Sleep range has not changed and remains 7-9 hours
• older adults (age 65): Range of sleep is 7-8 hours (new age category)
