Study: Up to 90% of Cancers Caused by Diet, Lifestyle, and Pollution
Chris beat cancerlifelong followers of this blog may remember that ridiculous study , which was released in January 2015, claiming that 65% of cancers are caused by "bad luck" and my immediate fierce reply .
This week, a new study published in the journal Nature concluded that 70-90% of cancers are caused by diet, lifestyle and environmental factors ( such as viruses, parasites and pollution) .
And so am now enjoying another glorious "I told you."

The researchers found that most cancers - including lung, colorectal, bladder and thyroid cancer - had a large number of mutations that were likely to have been caused by (external) extrinsic factors; only a few types of cancer had a large proportion of (internal) Intrinsic mutations.
In addition, researchers found a strong epidemiological evidence to support the high contribution of extrinsic factors to cancer development. For example, analysis immigrants who moved from countries with low incidence of cancer for those with high incidence of cancer revealed these individuals quickly acquired an increased risk of cancer, suggesting extrinsic factors are the guilty.
Speaking to the BBC, the lead author of the study Dr. Yusuf Hannun , the Center for Health Sciences at Stony Brook, said their findings show "people can not hide behind bad luck."
"They can not smoke and say it's bad luck if you have cancer," he said. "It's like a revolver -. Intrinsic risk is a bullet And if playing Russian roulette, then maybe 1 in 6 will get cancer -. That's the bad intrinsic luck"is encouraging to know that there are still researchers interested in identifying the causes of cancer in order to help prevent, unlike the scientific and medical community simply shrug and say, "we do not know why ... Let's just call all bad luck."
"Now, what is a smoker does is add two or three revolver bullets, "continued Dr. Hannun. "And now, I pull the trigger. There is still an element of luck that not all smokers develop cancer but have stacked the odds against you. From the point of view of public health, we want to eliminate as many bullets as possible camera. "( Source )
of course, the latter document does not present a new idea. Doctors and researchers have been saying this for decades, as document from 2008, linking 90-95% of cancers in diet, lifestyle and environment.
This cancer survivor is certainly in the area of 90-95%.
We all know that drinking, smoking and drug use promotes cancer and environmental toxins that can cause cancer, but what kind of diet promotes cancer?
A Western diet rich in meat, dairy products and processed foods and refined sugar, salt and oils.
The healthiest people worldwide populations, with the lowest rates of our murderers of cancer most important (lung, colon, breast, etc.), eat very little to none of those foods. And not paleo.
If you are interested in the habits of diet and lifestyle that have been scientifically proven to prevent and reverse our top 15 leading causes of premature death, I recommend starting with my favorite book of 2015 how not to die by Dr. Michael Greger.
There is another factor not addressed in this article, I think it weighs more than anything else.
And that is stress.
Stress is the missing link between people why some "healthy" people get cancer and some "unhealthy" people do not. I created a 90-minute module to help identify and eliminate stress, which will be included in my new training program launched in January. Stay tuned for that.
Meanwhile, watch this brief interview with Dr. Patrick Vickers, in which he and I discuss the impact that stress has on cancer cure:
