Photographs showing bananas allegedly had been "bloodshot" have been passed around online with varying degrees of paranoia for several years. Claims related to the photographs that have evolved from speculation about the discoloration of the banana (as shown above) claims that human blood was injected purpose bananas in order to spread HIV.

The hype began more than seven months ago with the report that a large amount of blood oranges Libya had been contaminated with AIDS and HIV-infected blood and captured by the immigration services in Algeria.
