Four Ingredient Chocolate Covered Caramels (Vegan)
"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get" .. .
unless you make your own chocolates, and then you can be sure that everyone is full of candy.
When given a box of chocolates grow, and even as an adult, I've always tried to pick and eat all the candy filled. I mean, let's be realistic here, no other filler compared with rich caramel, sticky. In fact, according to a survey in the favorite flavor of Americans in a box of chocolates, candy was number one. No big surprise.
Speaking of surprises, you can also make sure they are not full of un-romantic as partially hydrogenated oil, palm kernel, corn syrup, sulfur dioxide things, and Polyglycitol . Yes, I know what that is either. Those are just some of the ingredients in 50+ ingredient list item in a box of Russell Stover chocolates.
I devised a plan to make easier the absolute covered chocolate candies with:
- No strange ingredients
- No refined sugar
- there is no kitchen or complications
- No utensils needed
- No animal products
- And the use of simple healthy, real food ingredients
so even made in the form of hearts. Just for you.
Add only one ingredient, and you can make chocolate covered butterscotch peanut hearts.
see how much love you guys ??
Four Ingredient chocolate covered candies (milk, without free refined sugar, raw, vegan)
Makes about a dozen of chocolates, depending on the size of dates
- 12 large medjool dates, pitted ( Natural Pleasures are the only brand I use)
- 1 / 4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (or cocoa powder)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup or coconut nectar (or to taste)
optional: sea salt for sprinkling on top (it's so good!)
also need a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, or you can free style forms heart with a knife
Instructions:
- Trim your heart shapes. I carefully removed the pit, then I crushed the date on my cutting board with the palm of his hand. Then I used my cookie cutter to cut a heart. I have two hearts of a date. If the dates are super soft and sticky, throw them in the fridge for an hour or so to realize a little to make it easier to cut.
- melt the coconut oil, and stir in maple syrup and cocoa powder.
- I stack two hearts for a thicker caramel center. Then I wet my heart stuck in melted chocolate and rolled it around with a spoon to coat all sides. Place the chocolate covered hearts on a parchment covered dish.
- Place the plate of chocolate hearts to realize in the freezer for about 10 minutes or so. It can be repeated for a thicker chocolate shell. Sprinkle with sea salt to make them even better.
* For even easier chocolates 3 ingredients, simply melt the chocolate chips 1/2 cup dark free milk and a tablespoon of coconut oil in a double grill and use this in instead of the above chocolate.
