A Meteor Just Exploded Over The Atlantic With More Force Than The Hiroshima Bomb
id = " The fireball largest since the Chelyabinsk explosion in February 2013 has shown, detected on February 6 at 2 pm UTC in the South Atlantic Ocean. However, this event occurred in the middle of the ocean, about 1,850 kilometers (1,150 miles) southeast of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, so you may not see directly or caught on camera.
Data released by NASA shows that the meteor released energy equivalent to 12,000 tons (13,000 tons) of TNT, and they move more than 15.5 kilometers per second (9.6 miles per second). It disintegrated at an altitude of about 31 kilometers (19 miles) and had a diameter of about 7 meters (23 feet), calculated on the basis of their kinetic energy . While 12,000 tons of TNT looks like a very large number, it pales in comparison to the impact Chelyabinsk , which was 40 times more energy and released 450,000 tons (500,000 tons) of TNT. The event Chelyabinsk, although not dangerous in itself, injured more than 1,000 people because windows break. If this event had occurred in a populated area, it would at most some windows rattled and frightened some people, according to Phil Plait on the board . (source)
