Is Consciousness The Bridge Between Science & Religion?

Science and religion often seem opposites and in many ways that are poles. But I think the two can, and eventually will be united; and meeting point is the human conscience.
They are conscious beings is the most obvious fact of our existence. In fact, all we ever know are the thoughts, images and feelings that arise in our consciousness. However, in regards to Western science, there is nothing more difficult to explain. Why complex information processing in the brain lead to an internal personal experience? Why not go all in the dark, without any conscience? Why have no inner life at all?

This paradox of the undeniable existence of human consciousness in contrast to the absence of any satisfactory scientific explanation for it, suggests there may be something wrong with the current scientific view of the world. Most scientists assume that consciousness emerges in one way or another from inanimate matter. But if this assumption does not lead us anywhere, maybe we should consider an alternative worldview that is found in many metaphysical and spiritual traditions. There, awareness remains become an essential component of the cosmos, as fundamental as space, time and matter.
Interestingly, the expansion of scientific model to include awareness in this way does not threaten any of the conclusions of modern science. Math remains the same, like physics, biology, chemistry and all the other discoveries about the material world. What changes is our understanding of ourselves. If consciousness is a fundamental effect, then the teachings of the great sages and mystics begin to make new meaning.
Those who have penetrated to the core of their minds with frequently they have discovered a deep connection to the ground of all being. The sense of being a self-that individual sense of I-ness that we all know so well, but it seems so hard to define, turns out to be not so unique after all. The light of consciousness that shines in me is the same light that shines on you, the same light that shines through a myriad of minds.
Some have expressed this internal union in the account "I am God." For traditional religion, this rings of blasphemy. How can a humble human being claim that he or she is God, the omnipotent supreme being? For modern science, such statements are nothing more than self-deception. Physicists have looked into the deep reaches of the universe to the space, again in "deep time" the beginning of creation, and down into "deep structure" of fundamental constituents of matter. In each case, they found no evidence of God; nor any need for God. The universe seems to work perfectly without any divine help
But when mystics speak of the divine, are not talking about a supernatural being, supreme governing the workings of the universe.; they are talking about the world inside. If we want to find God, we have to look at the field of "deep mind", an area that science has yet to explore.
When it does, you can find has embarked on a course that will eventually lead to embrace the spirit and dare we say-God. For the scientific community, based on a worldview of material, this is anathema. But so was the notion of the solar system four centuries ago
