Wherever we go today there is another electronic device is lifted, and these are not just for adults anymore. There are computers, tablets, games, and educational applications aimed at all children.
But this begs the question. Is it safe for growing children to spend time on mobile devices? While there is still more research that needs to be done, there are some concerns that must be considered.
Younger children are growing and developing at an incredible pace. During the first two years of a child's life, your brain triples in size. During this time the child spends there looking at the world and try to toddling his first words. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under two and have no contact with technology. But children are not the only ones that the AAP recommends using limited technology. They say children 3-5 years to limit its use to an hour a day and 6-18 years old only spend two hours a day immersed in technology. Why?

Problems with excessive use of electronic
There are a number of reasons for caution when exploring the overuse of technology today. need to carry out further studies, as many of the current data on the harmful effects of technology on children has been drawn from the practices of watching TV. Where watching TV is a passive activity, there are many games and software for interactive and challenging mobile devices today. But some of the same concerns exist.
- Childhood obesity is a major concern in the United States today and excessive use of mobile devices only contributes to the problem. Children need to be encouraged to move around and explore.
- Many children are struggling with their capabilities approach, and frequent use of mobile devices with bold, attention-grabbing activities, videos and games does not help.
- Lack of sleep and is a concern for many school children and there is concern that children stay up later than is healthy to continue playing or watching videos. While occasional evening hours are okay, when it becomes a habit, a child can suffer significantly.
- There are many other issues that must be considered, such as the emission of radiation, mental illness, aggression and even addictions. Further studies should be conducted.
But today, when problems arise, children (and adults) to distract themselves, create a new reality in the digital world and even explore the negative experiences and relationships in a very disconnected way. This can significantly affect the child's ability to develop healthy relationships. Many adults lack self-control, and children have difficulties with it just as much, if not more. The problem becomes even more critical when we realize that children are developing. The rest of his life will be overshadowed and heavily influenced by the way they grow. Teaching children to interact with the world around them, establish relationships with friends and family face-to-face will have a powerful and lasting effect on them for the rest of their lives.
Finally, the last and serious caution that must be raised is the prevalence of pornography available to children. Yes, available to children. Many recovering addicts talk porn at a young age and being grossed out and attracted. They continued to explore online and were absorbed by use of pornography before they have understood what was happening, and long before they could fully understand the dangers involved or make intelligent decisions. This is not uncommon. The average age of a child is exposed to pornography is young, 11 years old.

solutions to the problem
While some people have I been calling for a ban on mobile devices for all children under 12 years, I tend to believe that the solution is not in the mass ban, but rather to encourage parents to talk to their children and help them make smart choices for their age and capabilities. Mobile devices have a number of benefits. Are "a safety device to keep in touch with family and friends, a camera to document the world, a window to connect with grandparents across miles, an electronic reader, an educational tool, a gateway to global information and a source of games and entertainment, "says David Kleeman for the Huffington post.
- keep family times, especially dinner times, sacred. As often as possible, try to sit down as a family for a meal. Keep mobile devices table and if possible. Be an example yourself. Respect your spouse and your child, maintaining its use of mobile devices to a minimum in the interaction with his family. That are a priority. It may seem a small thing, but later, they will remember it and appreciate it.
- Provide other activities that are engaging, challenging and fun. This can be sports, games, clay, paintings, family outings to parks, work days in the church or in your community, or even just space for a child to be creative, indoors or outdoors. The focus is not on entertain your child, but rather encouraging them to explore and play. Do not forget, too, that is perfectly fine for children to participate in family chores.
- seriously considering putting some sort of blocking its Internet service at home, keeping Internet capabilities outside the mobile devices your child (or have installed any software blocking) and allowing only low monitoring of exposure to the Internet at home. Talk to your children about being responsible online, because more than likely will have opportunities for unfiltered Internet at school or at friends. There are excellent filters out there.
When it comes down to it, there are pros and cons of technology and children are affected as much as anyone else. As parents, it is our job to guide how and when children use mobile devices, not only establish rules, but helps them develop the ability to make smart choices and maintain healthy habits. This will help you get the most out of your childhood and placed in a good position for life!
