Counting the red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), platelets in a given volume of blood and measuring the amount of hemoglobin (Hb) in a given volume of blood is called blood count (FBC).This can be done using manual methods and by an automatic system.
The patient should not be previously prepared for this type of test. The sample can be taken at any time of the day. After taking the blood sample, an anticoagulant (ie E.D.T.A. - ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid) will be added to the sample to prevent coagulation.
A white blood cell count may vary slightly from age and gender, but must be between 6000 / mm - 11000 / mm differential count. In a sample of healthy blood Nutrophils 54%, 42% lymphocytes, 02% eosinophils, monocytes 01% and 01% of Basopils WBC.
is RBC count red blood cells in a measured volume. The value is 4.2-5.5 x 3.7 to 5.0 x 10E12 // 10E12. Hemoglobin (HB) amount to 13.0 to 16.5% in men and from 11.5 to 14% in women.
