Chaga is a fungal parasite nontoxic growing on birch trees (as well as some other types) in northern climates. It is far from typical soft mushroom and soft, actually looks and feels like wood or coal burned. Chaga is known for the Siberians as the "gift of God" and the "mushroom of immortality." The Japanese call it "El Diamante de la Selva", and the Chinese refer to it as the "King of plants." The Chinese also consider it as a factor inachieving surprising longevity. Chaga grows in North America, but most Americans have no idea of its existence, much less amazing healing properties, which are listed below.

This fungus of immortality is said to have the highest level of antioxidants of any food in the world and also the highest level of superoxide dismutase (a major antioxidant defenses internal body) that can be detected in any food or herb. Chaga is extremely powerful because it contains within it, the strength of the real life of trees, the most powerful beings on Earth. Trees can live for up to 10,000 years and some even exceeding that. Chaga concentrated this power, and we can harvest it as well. One of the most important properties of Chaga is betulinic acid, however, in order to be beneficial Chaga, which has only to be collected from birch trees. Birches are the only trees that contain this amazing compound. Betulinic acid has a wide range of biological effects, including the powerful activity antitumor.

Preparing wild Chaga tea mushroom

Chaga mushrooms grow wild in forests in northern climates in birch trees. If you are lucky enough to find one, you'll want to harvest it, as Chaga can be quite expensive to buy. DO NOT cut the tree to retrieve the Chaga, doing so could cause tree death. If properly recovered Chaga continue to grow and be ready to harvest every four years or so, and the tree will continue to thrive.

*** It is important to correctly identify the fungus Chaga before consumption. To ensure that you are getting the right fungus, ensure that only harvested from birch trees. Chaga has a wood-like texture and is much like burning wood or charcoal inside should be a golden color orangy. Be sure to look up before use if you are not sure just to be sure! ***

To make the tea, cut some small parts out of chaga and place in a pot. Pour in about 2 liters of filtered water and cover with a lid. Bring the pot to a boil for a minute or so, then reduce heat to a simmer and keep the lid. Let it simmer for about an hour and then add another liter of water and continue to simmer with the lid on for another hour. This will make about 1 liter of tea Chaga fungi. It is a process that takes time, but I think the amazing benefits justify the process, plus it tastes great! It tastes like a nice vanilla flavor black tea. You can add honey or sweetener if you wish, but I think it tastes surprisingly delicious by itself.

can also grind the fungus in powder form, or make a tincture for convenience. Please see this link for details.
