How did it happen? And is there a solution?

Dr. Barry Bogin is a professor of anthropology at the University of Michigan. He says we all envision our paleolithic ancestors, such as people with short curved small brains, but in reality, were high and a little more as large as the brain. And if alive today, it would not require hospitalization for both degenerative disease.

It is true that most people in Stone Age did not live as long as Americans today. A large number were killed while hunting animals or infection due to lack of antibiotics. Others suffered terrible deaths during childbirth.

But those who escaped these problems are not faced with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity or-all great murderers in later in life today.

What protected them? Ironically, things were lacking that saved them. Three meals a day were never guaranteed, so they had to continually exert themselves to find food.

Dr. Bogin reports that today most people spend only 400 calories to complete the tasks of the day. Cars, televisions, computers and do not burn calories.

stone age people lost 1,600 calories by hunting and gathering food. This, coupled with the absence of outlets of fast food and supermarkets, kept thin, an important factor in the prevention of degenerative disease factor.

nutritional anthropologists can pinpoint what people ate stone age and how their nutrition safe from certain diseases-by analyzing their bones and fossilized human excrement.

Sugar and salt

Possibly, its main protection was the lack of sugar. The only source of pure sugar was honey, it was not easy to get and is only available in certain areas of some months.

Today, we consume 20 teaspoons of sugar a day, which translates into 146,000 calories a year and 42 pounds of body fat if not burned by exercise.

What's beyond belief is that Americans now eat refined sugar in one day that stone age people ate in life! This is one reason why people stone age were free of caries.

stone age people also lacked excess sodium. They consume about 1,000 milligrams of sodium a day. Today, it is used 4,000 to 6,000 milligrams a day, most foods supermarkets. This is one reason why hypertension is a major cause of death.

Saturated Fat Fiber vs

Palaeolithic men had phenomenal good luck. They consume up to 150 grams of fiber a day due to a diet rich in plant foods. This resulted in large soft and prevented constipation, diverticulitis, colon cancer and possibly faeces. Americans consume only 15 grams of fiber a day.

Dr. Bogin says that either were exposed to saturated fats, the kind linked to heart disease. It is estimated that the American public eats 200 hamburgers per second.

Paleolithic people did not eat large amounts of saturated fat, even in areas where hunting was plentiful. The bison that crossed the prairies, were thin, and the fat that was largely contained unsaturated fat. In fact, Dr. Bogin says something of its fat consisted of omega-3 fatty acids, those found in fish.

could also thirsty stone age people run to the corner store for a can of 10 ounces of soda loaded with 8 teaspoons of sugar. Nor had they learned to ferment the beans and grapes. No alcohol, they escaped some cancers. All they had was water without calories undoubtedly cleaner than drinking water today.

Paleolithic people also escaped osteoporosis. This, despite the fact that the cows and goats were not conducted for dairy products. But their plant foods were so high in calcium that an average of 1,900 milligrams of calcium daily.

We can learn from our ancestors by eating whole grain bread and bran cereals, adding more fruits and vegetables to our diet, drinking milk, and above all, say no to sugar-laden drinks . And if we rose from our chairs more often, maybe then we could control the rising costs of health care.
