World AIDS Day- A Review of AIDS Status

World AIDS Day is celebrated every year on 1 December this year, will be the 21st World AIDS Day. The aim of this day is to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic, which is caused by HIV infection. Memorials in honor of people who have died from HIV / AIDS are held on this day. People from different walks of life come together for the cause of people living with HIV.

AIDS Statistics Today 33 million people worldwide are HIV positive. Of this number, only about 4 million are receiving treatment. According to the statistics published by UNAIDS and WHO, this global epidemic is slowing. However, there are some most affected countries where nothing seems to be useful. In June 2008, a joint report by the WHO / UNAIDS indicated that nearly three million people were receiving antiretroviral drugs in the developing world, less than a third of the 9.7 million people who need them at the time. This means that 6.7 million were dying for lack of medicines.

AIDS Research AIDS research is carried out with vigor throughout the world in two key areas- to find a cure for HIV AIDS; and for the development of an effective vaccine to prevent. However, even with all the efforts in progress, any effective solution does not seem to be there for the treatment of AIDS.
