Nobody Wants To Talk About This.”

The Facebook page Islamic Current Affairs shared a post which has gone viral
A photo showing devastation and death in Iraq tugs at the heart of netizens
Post tells of anguish — “Nobody care about it. Nobody wants to talk about this.”
“Why aren’t the Iraqi media covering this? Why aren’t the Iraqi people tweeting, sharing hashtags and spreading it elsewhere on social media?”
These questions summarize most of the comments coming from the readers on a post by a page on Facebook, Islamic Current Affairs.
On July 4, the community page shared a photo of devastation and death which was purportedly taken following the bombing in Iraq which claimed hundreds of innocent lives.
Accompanying the photo is the caption that goes: “Yesterday ISIS killed over 170 innocents In Iraq. It’s considered one of the worst terrorist attacks in the history of Iraq but nobody care about it. Nobody wants to talk about this. There is no 24/7 media coverage. There is no #PrayforIraq hash tag trending on social media. Because Iraq is not Paris or Orlando.

Sunday’s bombing in Baghdad which killed around 250 people had triggered widespread anger. The attack was later claimed by the notorious Islamic State group, as per reports.
Tagged as the deadliest attack to hit Iraqi capital since 2003, the suicide car bombing devastated Baghdad’s Karrada district early that day while the area was teemed with people who were shopping for the end of the Ramadan.
The explosives-rigged vehicle was reported to have come from Diyala province north of Baghdad; passing through a flawed security checkpoint on its way to the busy road in the in the Baghdad neighborhood of Karrada.
A Series of Devastation
Earlier, headlines told us that jihadists killed 41 people at the Istanbul airport, then 22 at a cafe in Bangladesh plus the very recent 250 who were celebrating the final days of the Ramadan in Baghdad. And as if that weren’t enough, more bombings occurred in three cities in Saudi Arabia.
And this week, a number of posts on social media is tackling the issue of global outrage – or rather, the lack of it.
@razanhasan tweets : “Why isn’t #PrayForIraq trending? Oh yeah no one cares about us.”
Likewise, the Islamic Current Affairs group highlights on its post that: There is no #PrayforIraq hash tag trending on social media. Because Iraq is not Paris or Orlando.
On Tuesday, according to a story by NY Times, a Syrian dissident, Michel Kilo, was wearily wondering: Where was the global outrage? Where was the outpouring that came after the same terrorist groups unleashed horror in Brussels and here in Paris? In a supposedly globalized world, do nonwhites, non-Christians and non-Westerners count as fully human?
These are questions that deserve answers, but who could honestly give answers?
