After consumption of oatmeal, satiety levels were higher than the levels of satiety in the group consuming corn flakes, despite the same amount of calories. Therefore, in the group drinking water, participants experienced the same level of hunger for breakfast as they did when they ate cornflakes, after a period of 3 hours.
The overweight group had more pronounced results, demonstrating that these individuals are more sensitive to the effects of satiety of dietary fiber in oatmeal.
However, the study shows that people who want to lose weight may freely eat oatmeal for breakfast.
Along with the properties of weight loss, oatmeal has other health benefits as well:
- reduces high blood pressure
- decreases the risk of colorectal cancer
- reduces the chances of coronary artery disease
