Study Shows That Consuming This Drink Can Increase Cancer Risk by 15%
A recent study shows that alcohol consumption may increase the risk of cancer and ages and genders specific are at greater risk than others.
The Medical Research Council and National Health, or NHMRC, found that even a drink containing alcohol consumed every day can mean a woman is at increased risk of cancer. The same is not true for men.

To see a comparable risk for cancer, men have to drinking more than two drinks over a period of 24 hours and smoke. However, one out of two men develop cancer at the age of 85, compared with only one in three women.
Women at increased risk of cancer from alcohol consumption
women, the highest risk is breast cancer, while men face colorectal cancer most frequently. This is the result of a study involving more than 88,000 women and 47,000 men.
All participants not only discussed how many alcoholic beverages they consume, but also whether they smoked in order to provide data for a possible correlation between drinking and smoking and increased risk of cancer.
For women, the statistics say that a woman drinking 5 to 14 grams of alcohol each day has a higher risk of breast cancer specifically 13%.
Women over 65 who drink have an even higher risk of breast cancer as those who binge drink. Globally, the estimate is that alcohol is the cause of cancer in 1.7% of diagnosed cases.
guidelines say only two drinks per day
The recommendation of the NHMRC is that healthy men and women limit their alcohol consumption to two per day to minimize the risk of a serious illness like cancer. The type of alcoholic beverage is not related to the level of potential risk. This is because the ethanol ingredient of all alcoholic beverages, is the agent that causes cancer.
While breast cancer is more common in women and colorectal cancer is more common in men who consume higher amounts of alcohol, alcohol also increases the risk of mouth, throat, esophagus and liver cancer, and cancer of the larynx.
This is for both sexes. More than 5,000 cases of cancer each year are associated with long-term use in patients with cancer.
For every 1,000 women who decide each additional drink consumed daily contribute to breast cancer by 11 additional women, while an additional 1,000 women get cancer in the oral cavity or pharynx and .7 1000 women will be diagnosed with liver disease or esophageal cancer. An additional woman in 1000 would get rectal cancer on the basis that additional one drink per day as well.
An interesting and still discouraging fact is that despite all this information, many people are even aware that by choosing to limit their consumption of alcohol, which may decrease your risk of cancer as well. Information is available, but not widely learned by society.
