It is often said that when a woman has shiny, healthy hair, that she has Indian hair, because let’s face it, Indian women have the shiniest and healthy-looking hair, their secret? Indian spices, natural leafs and oils. I recently discovered the wonder of curry leaves for long and healthy hair and since it is so easy to find and prepare, I wanted to share with you all, not without reinforcing one more time, that consistency is the key to success, don’t expect miracles over night and certainly not with one use, ok? okay, so let’s get started with this aromatic treatment.



Why Curry leaves? Curry leaves (Kadi Patta) are rich in anti-oxidants and amino acids: the amino acids are essential to prevent your hair from falling and stops the thinning of the hair by strengthening your hair follicles, and the anti-oxidants fight the damage of free radicals, moisturize your scalp and helps in removing dead scalp flakes, which are the primary cause of dandruff. Also, curry leaves are a rich source of beta-carotene and proteins. Beta carotene prevents hair loss while proteins stop hair thinning. Curry is amazing to stop hair fall and dandruff, premature greying of the hair and accelerate hair growth, it is also very effective in treating damaged hair and strengthening weak hair. You can add curry to your diet for the beauty from the inside out or create your own DIY treatment.


















You will need: 1/2 cup of coconut oil, a handful of fresh curry leaves

How?: add the curry leaves to the coconut oil and boil them together until it turns black, remove from the stove and let it cool down( I like it warm)

The what? apply it to your hair from roots to ends, and scalp as a pre-poo (before the shampoo) leave it on for at least 20 minutes, rinse, wash and style as usual. Store any left over oil in a glass jar, you can prepare as much as you want and use regularly. For a more effective result, apply it the night before your wash day for an overnight treatment, protect your hair with a scarf to avoid damaging your pillow case.



Extra Tips: Take some curry leaves, black cumin and methi seeds, crush all these ingredients into a fine paste, then add 100 ml of coconut oil. Apply this mixture to your scalp and leave it over night.
