Oil Pulling: Research Finally Reveals What Some Have Thought All Along

Apparently, there are a number of studies that support this process and a lot of people rely on him.

is claimed to whiten teeth, make your breath fresher and lead to dramatic improvements in oral health.

Now I've been doing this every morning for about 10 days ... and I'm impressed.

What is oil pulling and How does it work?

involves swishing oil pulling oil around the mouth and has been used for thousands of years as a folk remedy India. In order to extract oil, put a tablespoon of oil in the mouth, then swish it for 15-20 minutes. The main benefit of doing this is that it reduces the amount of harmful bacteria in the mouth.

Actually, there are thousands of different types of bacteria in the mouth. Some of them are children, others are not. Bacteria in the mouth create a "biofilm" on teeth - a thin layer used to adhere to the surface. This is what we know as "plate".

Having a little plaque on the teeth is normal, but if you go from your hands can cause all sorts of problems, including bad breath, yellow teeth, swollen gums, gingivitis and caries. The oil so that strip works is simple. When swish the oil around the mouth is done, the bacteria "stuck" in it and dissolve in the liquid oil. Basically, a lot of bacteria and plaque in the mouth each time that does this is removed.

I personally prefer coconut oil
Traditionally, Indians used other oils such as sesame oil or sunflower oil. Oil pulling should work with almost any oil you choose, but I prefer coconut oil as it has many health benefits.

The lauric acid (one of the fatty acids in coconut oil) has also proven antimicrobial ... can kill bacteria, viruses and fungi.¹ ² The taste of coconut oil is also quite nice compared to other oils. I found it quite unpleasant at first, have a mouth full of oil, but I got used to it after a few days.

Now let's see a few studies on oil pulling ...

traction oil can reduce harmful bacteria in the mouth

Streptococcus mutans is a major bacteria in the mouth and a key player in the buildup of plaque and tooth decay. In a study conducted in 2008 with 20 children, traction oil (use sesame oil) caused a reduction in the number of Streptococcus mutans in plaque in as little as 2 weeks.3

was not as effective as chlorhexidine mouthwash, but much cheaper and much less unpleasant.

Pulling oil can reduce plaque and gingivitis

Gingivitis is caused by inflammation of the gums and occurs when the immune system starts attacking the bacteria in plaque.

Another study compared the traction oil and chlorhexidine in adolescents with plaque-induced gingivitis. Both traction oil and chlorhexidine mouthrinse were effective against gingivitis.4

traction oil can reduce bad breath

Bad breath, also known as halitosis, is in many cases (not all) caused by the smell of chemicals and gases produced by bacteria in the mouth. It makes sense that if you get rid of some of these bacteria, bad breath is reduced.

In a third study of 20 adolescents, oil pulling therapy significantly reduced markers of bad breath and was as effective as chlorhexidine mouthwash.5

As oil Tire

traction oil is incredibly simple and effective.

Here's how:

1. Put a tablespoon of oil in your mouth.

2. Shake the oil around the mouth for about 15-20 minutes.

3. spitting the oil, then brush your teeth.

If coconut oil as is used, then you may have to chew on oil for a minute or so to melt it as it is solid at room temperature. This is best done on an empty stomach, before brushing your teeth. I prefer to do while taking a shower in the morning.

I put the oil in the mouth, swish it while in the shower and try to "push" and "pull" the oil between the teeth. When I leave the shower I spit oil into the trash or into the toilet (no sink ... can clog), rinse the mouth with water and then brush your teeth.

There is no need to use much force here, if oil pulling causes pain in the facial muscles then just relax a little. Try to use less oil next time and not swish it too hard.

What to Expect

I've been doing this for about 10 days. I've definitely noticed that my breathing is cooler and teeth look much cleaner ... much whiter and brighter. I have never had any dental problem, but I can see how this could have benefits for people who have them.

There are a lot of wild claims about oil traction online and do not think all of them. However, the traction oil is effective in reducing harmful bacteria in the mouth and improving oral and dental health.

Because inflammation can cause all sorts of health problems, it makes sense that reducing inflammation of the gums and mouth could lead to benefits for overall health as well. Perhaps this is the reason why many people report improvements in health problems that really have nothing to do with the mouth.

Anyway ... I have to say I'm really surprised how effective this is. I think keep doing this for a long time.
