Love Jim was in the hospital with terminal lung cancer when he made a desperate plea to see Cindy last

Chris, of 21, he told the Whig his parents were right for each other, and were "inseparable" from day one.

He said his father was over the moon when, in 1994, Cindy realized she was pregnant.
"He began to mourn, I was so happy. It was the best day of your life. That's all I'd ever wanted," he said.
They lived a happy life together until eight years ago, when Jim was diagnosed with lung cancer. He fought it off twice before being told in 2012 that had only a 10 percent chance of survival.

After about 75 sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, was admitted to hospital in Kingston in late April and placed in intensive care.

The next day, Cindy had a heart attack and was rushed to a hospital in Brockville, Ontario.


Jim battled lung cancer for eight years with his wife at his side, and he said in 2012 that had a probability of 10 percent survival

"for about four or five days ago, we went back and forth [between the two hospitals]," Chris said.

The night before he died, the two father-of had a nightmare and took the tube from his throat. Doctors were unable to return to intubate, so they made him see through Cindy last time.

She was sedated and sleeping peacefully, unaware that Jim was holding her hand.

Chris took the photographs for his mother to know he was with her husband when he died.
"After the picture was taken, he said," Chris said.
"He was there all the time that could be physically, until his body began to close and he needed to take him back."

Jim died a few hours later, on May 4

As soon as Cindy awoke, he wondered where was Jim, but I knew he was dead, Chris told the Metro .

Cindy is back home recovering now, and his son, said seeing the pictures of her and Jim together in his last moments has helped him find his peace.

Chris also thanked hospital staff for their parents together in the final moments of his father.
"It would have just kept hanging on. I would not have left if I had not been able to say goodbye to her, "he said.
