Many People Unknowingly Have Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. Are You One of Them?
A disease known as Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver disease (NAFLD) appears when the liver is composed of 5% to 10% fat by weight. The bile produced by the liver has a function to digest fats, to cleanse the blood, to store minerals and vitamins, and to break down hormones.
But, if you have liver disease, your liver won’t be able to perform those activities, and it won’t be able to eliminate or digest the fats. When fats aren’t digested, they are stored in the liver, and the liver becomes enlarged. NAFLD is one of the most common liver disorders in the world.
Risk factors and causes, which contribute to appearance of this disease include:
-Some medications
-Consuming alcohol
-Aging
-Diabetes
-High cholesterol and triglycerides
-Obesity
-Genetics
-Problems with the thyroid gland
-Sedentary lifestyle
-Poor nutrition
If you have NAFLD in addition to inflammation and cell damage in your liver at the same time, then you have a non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, known as NASH. According to some studies, between 2 and 5 percent of all Americans are affected by this disease.
Also, according to the National Institute of Health , 30 percent of young people have NAFLD. This percent is increasing as the age increases. Moreover, younger people in America became more and more affected by NAFLD because of the high-fat diet consumed by most Americans.
How to treat NAFLD naturally?
1.Change your diet
If you suffer from liver disease, it is important to make changes in your diet. The typical American diet is high in fats that have a deleterious effect on the body. Including bananas, ginger root, sweet potatoes, and raw vegetables into your diet will help eliminate the fat build up in your liver. Since consumption of alcohol can contribute to NAFLD, you should severely reduce or completely eliminate your alcohol consumption.
2.Lose weight
With losing weight, you will reduce fats in your whole body, and also in your liver. This is very good way of treating NAFLD, and it is very effective too. Also, it is important to drink plenty of water, so that the metabolic toxins that are being generated can be excreted through the urine.
3.Turmeric
We all know how much turmeric can be beneficial for your health Turmeric will eliminate the inflammation that can occur with NAFLD, and will improve the digestion. As a supplement, you should start with consuming 450 milligrams of turmeric, or curcumin, per day.
4.Black seed oil
This oil is produced by black cumin seeds and is very beneficial for many health conditions including NAFLD. According to some studies, black seed oil reduces the progression of NAFLD and reduces the risk of complications.
5.Wolfberry
Long used as a supplement in traditional Chinese medicine, wolfberry is a powerful antioxidant, helps in stabilizing blood sugar, and tumor inhibitor. In the NAFLD liver, wolfberry restores natural enzymes and reduces the oxidative effects of the disorder.
6.Resveratrol
Resveratrol is an extract found in grapes, which is very powerful because it has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Recent studies have shown it to be very efficacious in fighting the inflammation and oxidative stress of NAFLD.
7.Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant and will help your body fight the inflammation that can occur with NAFLD. Vitamin E also boosts your immune system and is beneficial for your heart, which can be overtaxed when you have NAFLD.
8.Increase your Glutathione intake
It is an intracellular antioxidant, which is used to eliminate toxins placed inside the cells. However, it is poorly absorbed into the system so using pills or capsules that are labeled glutathione will not help your system maintain optimal levels of this essential enzyme. The amino acid cysteine, in combination with glycine and glutamic acid, can help elevate glutathione levels. These three supplements need to be taken in combination.
9.Milk thistle
Silymarin and silybin, which are the main phytochemicals found in milk thistle, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress of NAFLD. Since milk thistle is so widely available, this is one of the most promising treatments for NAFLD.
10.Exercises
Exercise has been shown to have a very beneficial effect for treating NAFLD. According to a study published in the Journal of Hepatology, only 30 minutes of exercising per day reduces the fat in the liver by 18 to 29 percent.
As an alternative, organic meat contains cysteine, as does avocado, asparagus, broccoli, tomatoes, walnuts, and watermelon. NAFLD is a very treatable disease and once it is cured, you’ll probably experience an increase in energy.
