Have you thought deeply about the latest discovery of genetics? DUF1220 - "DUF" means a (protein) domain of unknown function, presumably "junk DNA". However, this seems to be what distinguishes us as "human" and may correspond to increased functionality of the brain.
In fact, we have more than twice the number of replicates (copies) of this protein as result of instructions (code) of our genome-the chimpanzee that our closest genetic relative. It seems to be clearly related to the growth of certain parts of the brain and presumably for more sophisticated neural networks

If we "flip" the idea that consciousness is "created" by the brain, and instead become open to the possibility that our brain is a receiver of consciousness, then we can start understand a completely different reality - that the whole universe (of which we know only a small part through our limited sensory capacity) is immensely intelligent

Does this mean that we should not, as a species means, follow our discoveries in this field and begin to affect our own evolution? Let's face it-the genie is out of the bottle.
I would suggest that we have an imperative to do so-but doing so consciously with a deep reverence for the highest levels of meaning and understanding that we find in last instance. That is why the ancient science merged with a sense of the sacred -because it is necessary to have a deep relationship of surrender and humility in the face of this recognition. Our whole notion of a "domain" about life should be seen as meaningless, along with all the other symbols of our conceptual "understanding" of a reality that can not be "explained" in our own human terms.
We have to change the way we see
Does this mean that we cease to build, grow and evolve? Not at all, which is apparently our nature. But it could mean, for starters, we began reverently observe the relationships between plants, bees, environment and resources we have tried to "master" work, in accordance with the principles and much higher laws.
more importantly, these principles are not "personal" - if extinct as a species "nothing went wrong", the universe in its infinite intelligence will continue without us. Therefore we must drop the conceptual, scientific and religious concepts that have led us to a state of disharmony with intelligent natural order which "evolved".
Seeing our mind as a "job in progress "and not the be all and end of evolution might begin to question everything including the veracity and even the meaning of our own thoughts at this point -Which have been the only Mind we have ever known.
