According to one study in the New England Journal of Medicine , older adults who drink coffee have a lower risk of death overall than non-coffee drinkers. Coffee drinkers were less likely to die of heart disease, respiratory disease, Career , injuries and accidents, diabetes and infections.
The study was conducted by researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and AARP. More than 13 years the coffee consumption habits and the risk of death in American men and 400,000 women aged 50 to 71. The participants answered a questionnaire as part of Diet and Health Study NIH-AARP 1995 to 2008 were examined .

Even more good news: none of these things in moderation. The researchers found that the risk of death decreased as the amount of coffee consumed rose. In general, participants who drank three or more cups of coffee a day had a 10% lower risk of death compared with those who drank none.
Men who drank four to five cups of coffee every day reduced their risk of death during the study period 12%. Women reduced their risk by 16%.
Investigators would not say that coffee causes the lower risk of death. They could not explain the association, but they believe that their results "provide some reassurance that coffee drinking does not adversely affect health."

How to reduce your risk of death coffee?
According to the researchers the form of coffee helps protect against the risk of death is unclear because "coffee contains over 1,000 compounds that can potentially affect health."
One of these compounds is Caffeine , but that does not seem to be the key. In the study no differences between those who drank decaffeinated coffee or high test were observed.
The researchers also cautioned that they had no information on how coffee (espresso, boiled, filtered, etc.) was prepared. It was speculated that the way the coffee is prepared could affect the levels of protective compounds in coffee.
Although the study found an association between coffee and lower rates of mortality for a wide range of diseases, this is not true for cancer. However, a Harvard School of Public Health study found that coffee had a significant and beneficial for prostate cancer effect.
In this study, men who consumed the most coffee (six or more cups a day) were almost 20% lower risk of developing any type of prostate cancer and 60% lower risk develop lethal prostate cancer, a particularly aggressive form of the disease.
The study investigators believe that coffee contains many beneficial compounds that act as antioxidants, reduce inflammation, and regulate insulin , all of which can influence prostate cancer.
Coffee has been associated in previous studies with a lower risk of Parkinson's disease type 2 diabetes depression , gallstone disease, cancer skin and liver cancer or cirrhosis.
